PB4 with BEAD setup

Postby mrj » Thu Jul 19, 2018 6:03 am

Hello fellow bassists!

I've been lurking here for years, but I've never posted. I last bought a Carvin in 1997, a mahogany lb70. I sold it when I found a fretless lb75 about 3 years ago. I've finally splurged (it my wife splurged for my 40th birthday) and ordered a passive PB4 with a BEAD setup. Here's what I chose:

Classic white with satin finish
Royal ebony fretboard
Regular frets
Cream pickup
Black pickguard
Natural headstock with black Kiesel logo
Ivory tusq nut
Straplocks
Engraved truss cover: 1978

Super simple and hopefully a classic for years to come.
Cheers, and thanks for sharing in all of the helpful discussions!!

I'll do my best to post pics in...10 weeks or so.

I went back and forth on pb4 or 5. My lb75 has 17mm string spacing. I know it's only 2 mm but I'm not totally sold on the wider string spacing.

My bass came today. I'm so glad I went with passive. I love the SCP compared to the HB on my LB75.

 Thanks!
I love this bass. I've noticed on both my lb75 and this that the 12th fret and higher on the low B has a funny harmonic. The note isn't super clear. Has anyone else experience this? I don't know if it's an intonation thing or just the physics of the big string being shortened.
