Self install Hipshot D Tuner?

When I ordered my bass I didn't get the hipshot D Tuner, but now I have an itch to get one.
Any feedback on how easy/hard it is to switch the existing tuner for a D Tuner on my own?
I have a Carvin Icon 4 string - if that changes anything...

If the mounting holes are the same, it's (as far as I know) just a matter of replacing it (easy) and setting it up for the right amount of pitch change. Nothing crazy hard.

It's a pretty easy swap. Just remember to lubricate it with some graphite, and the nut as well. That's key if you want it to return to pitch regularly.

I also regretted not getting one with the build. I don't know if my experience was typical -- 2018 Aries 5, the factory tuning peg was pretty snug in the hole through the thin topwood layer. The hipshot would not go into it. It would slide into the headstock wood from the back, but not through the topwood. I had to take a Dremel to it to widen it up a bit.

Yeah, that voice in the back of my head was certain I'd split the topwood...but it all turned out just fine.
