Replacing active routed 2012 Carvin with passive pickups?

Postby Hybrid138 » Mon Mar 23, 2015 5:10 pm

I bought a Carvin from 2012 and it has the active pickups in it. Will passives fit? I know I can get after market pickup rings but will the screws line up? Anything else I need to consider before buying some passives?

What model do you have?

I ask because Carvin's active pickups (The A60, A70 and A80) have all been direct-mounted with no rings, as far as I know (like the DC600)...so no ring holes to line up.

Is it, perhaps, the active pre-amp with the passive pickups? (like the DC127, DC400, TL60, etc)?

Sorry forgot to mention the model. It's a DC700. They are direct mounted active pickups with the battery spot in the back of the guitar.

You'll need active sized passives, or pickup conversion rings.
V3M 212
2012 DC700 (gloss spalt)
2013 CS6 x 2 (satin purple flame, satin green flame)
2013 CS4 (satin black)
2015 CT4 (satin blue ash w/ AAT)

If I used pickup conversion rings, can I use the existing screw holes for the new pickups or will I need to drill new ones?

fretsonthenet sells these and it looks like you'll need 4 holes in the corners.
