FS44L foot switch not activating V3M Channel 2

Postby keniko » Wed Oct 18, 2017 3:58 pm

Hello, Last night at rehearsal my FS44L foot switch stopped activating Channel 2 on my V3M. Plus the boost doesn't seem to work as well. When I switch from Channel 3(Clean) to Channel 1 there's a noticeable thump sound which never has happened. The channel 2 and 3 switches on the head are in the up position for foot switch operation. I also checked the pins in the cable and the socket at the head and all is well. Is it the actual channel 2 foot switch? Has anyone experienced this issue? Thanks so much….

Amps and Pro Audio are not produced by Kiesel Guitars, but by Carvin Audio. The two parts of the old Carvin company officially split into two separate companies a few years ago.

I would have suggested heading over to CarvinAudio.com (and perhaps still worth visiting for schematics and manuals), but unfortunately, just last week they announced the closure of the factory. They have their web store up and running as they liquidate parts and extra stock, but have closed the physical store and don't *seem* to be replying to emails or phone calls any longer.

Unfortunately, there's no longer warranty support offered by Carvin Audio, and Kiesel Custom Guitars does not service amps and audio equipment.

  I may have to head over there and see if they have footswitches left and pick up a spare. (doubt it)
(Edit: Gah, the X100 and V3M FS44Ls are out of stock. :( )

But the switches do wear out. I suppose you could find out exactly what kind of switch they are and find the parts elsewhere and replace them.

Thanks for your answers. I’ll look for a replacement switch. Spud. Are you saying Carvin is not making Guitar amps and audio gear plus their related products?

Correct.

They are liquidating their assets as we speak on their site. They've removed all contact info from their website, and no longer able to perform warranty service.

So sad to hear the news. What's Steve Vai and all the artists going to do with their signature products plus the rest of us? Anyway, you wouldn't happened to know a switchcraft switch that would work? I saw from Carvin audio, the FS44L is out of stock and not available. Thanks again

Dude I had the same problem. Just open it up and resolder the wire going to the button for channel 2.
My Kiesel/Carvin collection: ST300 (M22SD bridge, S60A middle, Twin Blade neck), SCB6 (S22B bridge, S22J neck), Bolt Classic (AP11's in all positions), SH550 (S22T in the neck and bridge), AC375 and CL450. Also a Carvin V3M 50watt head with a Carvin 1x12 cabinet and Fender Jazz Bass.

I installed a new switch and channel 2 still isn't switching on or off. Any ideas what's wrong?

I just realized I can not manually switch to channel 2 from the head.
I posted this issue to the Carvin Facebook page as well. It’s looking like it’s an issue from the head
