5-Way blade sounds (Like PRS)?

Postby ToneWood » Thu Mar 29, 2018 6:49 am

I am considering switching from my PRS C24 to a Carvin. (I prefer Carvin's neck/fb.) But I really like the sound selection in the newer PRS 5-way blade:

From back to front:

Bridge hum ; B hum & Neck sc ; both hum ; both inside sc (north?) (squawky strat sound) ; neck hum.

What are the pickup sounds in Carvin's 5-way blade? All I can find, for example the SH6, is:

"Electronics consist of a master volume and tone control, with a 5-way pickup selector, allowing for a wide range of tonal flexibility."

Nothing about the specific config.

(ps - I am not so insistent about pos #2, just the other 4.)

There are probably other posts answering this, but for an H-H config 5-way, its ...
Neck HB
Neck inner coil
Both inner coils in series
Bridge inner coil
Bridge HB.

I have a diagram around somewhere.

Ah yeah a few posts down (currently) ...

With both inner coils in series, it basically sounds like a "middle" humbucker, correct? Is there any way possible to wire things up so that positions 1-2-4-5 remain the same, but position 3 ends up with both inner coils out of phase (parallel?) so that it sounds more like the 2-4 positions of a strat?
