Extremely cool ... that's even more hollowed out then I thought it was ..,
Love it!!

Now that I've had one (SH445) for a few weeks I do have to say that it's a unique animal. It's different than my CT4M, different than my SH225, different than my AE185, different than my old Italian-made hollowbody, and different than my Chinese-made ES-335 copy.

While my SH225 is bright and punchy (mostly talking about unplugged tones here, as the SH225 has a really deep-sounding neck humbucker), the SH445 is mellower... deeper. But not as mellow and deep as my old hollowbody. And with dynamics that are more like a set-neck solidbody. Really great for both rock sounds and jazz sounds. For clean and jangly old vintage bridge pickup tones I think the SH225 wins, with the AE185 coming in somewhere in-between.

Finally, the mystery of the AC375 has been resolved.

So it is true the sides are carved out - although the top and back seem to be built like a traditional acoustic guitar.
Carvin guitars: AC375, Cobalt 250, Bolt-T.
Carvin amps: Legacy I w/Mesa 2X12 Rectifier speaker cab, AG100D.

Ditto what others have said about being a necessary resource. It's like having a private viewing to the inner sanctum of guitars. I'm all tingly.

I clicked on the link from the AC375 thread and it inspired me too Google what the inside of a Gibson 335 looks like for comparison. Yuck!

Seeing the inside of the SH250 makes me want to go to builder and hopefully pull the trigger. :D

The inside of my ES 335 does not like like that at all.

That may be somebody's attempt at building a 335 at home or something.

That's not contemporary, it's a '64 that needed repair, here's the page: LINK

Actually when searching for the page (I used Google's search for image feature), I found the following very similar image:

It's an older one.

To quote the thread where it was shown: "No doubt it's a Gibson. Ever see workmanship that shoddy in any other guitar?"

From the look of it, that guitar was held together with indifference.

Comparing one of these Carvins and a Gibson is a completely wacky exercise, as they're completely different guitars built with entirely different approaches. One is solid pieces of routed out wood glued together without a single laminate, and the other is laminated tissuey layers braced together with blocks added in.

If you want to see the legit insides of a vintage Gibson 335, this is a good starting point:

Gently spooling thru a vintage piece:

Carvin Weaponry:
1985 DC150K (koa) Stereo, M22N/M22SD w/black hardware.
1985 100 Watt X Amp 2 x 12 combo (XV212) upgraded w/ 2 Vintage 30's
...and other gear.
