Here's a few in regular rotation :
Riot- Immortal Soul
Stryper- Fallen
Cynic - Kindly Bent To Free Us
Hangman's Crown- The Raven and the Dove ( I have to so I don't butcher the solos in rehearsal. Trust me, nobody wants to listen to their own bands songs hundreds of times. Its just a necessary evil.)

Lately I have been listening to Santana. I am really liking his tone. Distinctive sound for sure! V

Little Hurricane. Kinda White Stripes-y, but with the Jack White-ness turned down about 20%.

And the Meg-ness turned up exponentially.
Thanks for the recommendation - enjoyed it! (This is a cool thread.)

that Little Hurricane is interesting. Probably not something I would listen to regularly, but not bad.

Since yesterday, been reliving some of my youth with Genesis "That's all." Yes, I know it's from the Phil Collins vocal era and it's more pop than prog, but darn it, I love that song.

The 67 European tour live recordings by the second Miles Davis quintet.
Eric was a monster. Of course, so was Mingus.

The new Fates Warning - Theories Of Flight
Right now it's my 2016 Album of the Year, though there is still a lot of year left as of yet.
Speaking of which, in this play-through video for the song 'White Flag', can anyone tell me what that 7-string guitar is during the lead solo, at the 3:15 mark? It looks like a 7-string DC127, but the headstock is unreadable/funky-looking.

Was just curious if it was an older Carvin 7-string.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
Metallica - hardwired to self destruct.
I have hated every single metallic release post AJFA.
I received this as a Xmas gift.
3 discs. (2 studio. 1 studio / live)
I find myself (surprisingly) enjoying most of it. It really captures a lot of the stuff that made me like them way back in those early days. Excellent production. Decent tunes. The adult contemporary hetfield vox aren't all that bad.
The live stuff is pretty raw - nothing amazing really performance wise, but a lot of old stuff.
Kirk is really the weakest link here overall.
Not much growth in his playing - I don't even think hes maintained what he had!
At best he's just boring.
Kirk aside, it really surprised me.
I'd recommend it to any former fan.
