NGD - AM6 Colorshift

Postby ferret » Tue Aug 23, 2016 7:56 am

Sorry for the shortness of this initial NGD. I will be back with more photos and a colorshift video at some point, but real life timing could not have been worse for delivery as I am busy with a family medical issue. Here are my quick open the box shots.

Gave it a 15-20 minute run, loving it. No issue with fanned frets, pickups sounding great. Needed to tune up the 6th and 5th strings, but otherwise haven't found any issues. Fretboard is jet black, unlike that last SCB6 ;) The wide "forearm" bevel is definitely comfortable, similar to what I like about my SCBs.

Dare say, new favorite, which might be an issue cause I bought it for Drop C / C Standard. Maybe I need more Aries now? Ugggh. :)

Congrats on the long-time-coming NGD! Looks great, and I'm glad early reports are positive. :)

I love the color shift. It's very similar to the mystic dream I have on my jp7 but better imo since its more purple/blue rather than green/purple. The color shift finishes are great; They're cool enough that it stands out on stage but not overly flashy at all.

Need to see this on a CT3 with a plain maple top and BBE, and a clear walnut body. Gloss top, satin sides and back.

Congrats ferret! I love the color shift - especially when the purple turns almost magenta. VIVID!

Sorry this NGD catches you in the middle of a family issue. I'm glad everything abot it is to your liking... take care of business and this beauty will be waiting for you when the dust settles. :D

That definitely has the classic Petrucci vibe, but even cooler. Love it.

Professional tech buddy checked it over and found nothing so looks like it's a keeper :) I didn't find anything myself either. None of the little nitpicky stuff I have spotted before even though they don't bother me.

He gave it a test play then looked down and said "Wait this is fanned?" It really does feel natural. I honestly felt like I was playing better on it, though that could just be from being busy and not playing around plus new guitar excitement.

It's funny - many of your photos negate the fact that it is fanned frets. Maybe it's the wide angle lens on your camera or the angle you shot at. I was so enthralled by the color shift paint that I mentally skipped past the fact that it was a multiscale. I'm glad to know that it is a natural transition to multiscale - I'd like to try one some day. :)

The seven string fan was SUPER comfy - felt and sounded awesome.

That's a beautiful guitar, congrats!! I'm really interested in seeing a color-shift paint with a satin matte finish.
