Check out this beast of a 160 that appeared on Verb:

Mark was such a subtly beautiful artist during this period of the 80's, just jawdropping. I love the aging on the abalone inlays, which I usually don't like.
Just an outstanding, outstanding guitar.
EDIT:
Interestingly, a Gibby MM popped with the identical body shape:

I found the ugly twin sister to the later era 22 fret "Reissue" "DC150" ... a Fano whatsit:

Hey look! Some dude has completely lost his mind!

A mid 80's quilted DC160 for $2100 bucks.. which I'd say is a little steep for what the market is usually handing out for these, especially considering the flaws and repairs in it...

EDIT: Completely misread your post, Doc.
Congrats, man! That's wonderful. What a brilliant way to start a new year. Good on you for treating yourself. That's stunning, and in a good place now, too.
Happy New Year.

Re: 1976-1989 DC100/DC150/DC160 double cut electric guitars
Hey Greg--
I think you did misread my post! I was just linking in the guitar to show how much the dude was charging for it.
I would nonetheless love to have the disposable two thou clams to dump on such a beauty... although I'd probably seek out something else for the money. Two grand is a bit steep for this guitar.
My next guitar is probably going to be a LP Custom from the pre-richlite days... though it might be a R7 darkback if I find the right example. All of my LP style guitars--including my special edition LP Special, my DC150K, and my two Super Swedes--have ebony boards that add that extra bite on the attack. I have 3 double humbucker short scale vintage guitars that have braz rosewood boards, but they're thinner, brighter (or semihollow) axes that don't deliver that wallop of a heavy lester.
EDIT: and Happy New Year to you and everyone else too!

They were. It was as defining feature of Carvin guitars for many years. I'm not sure when the company dropped it.

My late 85 was the first year of the graphite slab nut.
True graphite as opposed to tusq.

So sanity has prevailed and he knocked exactly a thou off his asking price bringing it down to a very reasonable 1100.
If you're innerested, act fast as two people already have it in their cart!
