Signature in guitar

Postby UnexplodedCow » Sat Dec 01, 2018 1:16 pm

Anyone else found a signature in one of their guitars?

I happened to find one in my Bolt, under the middle pickup position. Anyone recognize it?

I am going to guess it has a humbucker and a single coil and it is pearl blue. Am I right? I think it has to do with the options of the guitar.
That stuff is usually written on the guitar for times the build sticker is going to be in the way. At least that is what I am thinking. I am pretty sure all mine have stuff like that if memory serves me.

It's an '04 HSH Bolt+C in sapphire blue, with matching color on the neck and headstock, blank maple board, jumbo frets, arrow head-stock, and drop-shadow logo.

These are photos from when the original owner had it:

Just so happens my 5 way switch crapped out on my bolt. So I went ahead and pulled the pick guard. Mine also has "stuff" written on it but I cant make out exactly what it says. It is definitely not a signature. Just a bunch of letters. Spud will know for sure.

Pretty guitar by the way.

Edit: I took a better look and I am pretty sure it is a series of initials. My guess as to why is perhaps the people who conducted various tasks so they can track who did what in case of return.

That's a logical guess, Toast. I haven't seen anything like it in the other guitars, and this one being a very non-standard Bolt made me wonder.

Yeah, it has it all: looks, the sound, and the weight (about 12 pounds of it). Still, it's one of the guitars I won't get rid of. I swapped out the pickups to L500R, TBH60, and L500XL in black.

The TBH was swapped a couple days ago; it mixes a little better in terms of volume compared to the AP11 it had, though I do like those pickups, and have 7 or 8 standing by in a box, ready for action, along with a host of M22s.

This is from when I had an AP11 in there:

Nowadays, I think Jeff signs everything he works on. Not sure when that started though.

I think it may be a QC signature. maybe for the paint / finish?
I think I've seen symbols, inits, and such. Maybe in my guitars, or other ppls pix?
