Protecting Signatures
So for those of you who have Kiesel models that have been signed by Jeff at the factory.. how do you protect the signature so it doesn't rub off over time?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Protecting Signatures
Good question. Silver sharpie on ebony cavity cover for the youngest...wonder if surface matters on this?

Re: Protecting Signatures
I thought it's done before the final clear coat(s). I don't know for sure where I got that idea from...

We had a member on here get a sig from everyone who worked on the axe, back in the Mark era. That was under the clearcoat.
More recently, Jeff has been signing cavity covers.

Well, it's for my JBO6X. Not sure if they sign cavity covers for those "limited edition" runs.. but I've already received the guitar and they asked me to send it back to have Jeff number and sign it.. So I would IMAGINE it won't be cleared over at this point.

Re: Protecting Signatures
If you get your favorite artist or something like that to sign your guitar, you can always clear over it. Masking it off or blending. The problem is some inks and paint pens will run when cleared over. Testing is the key. I cleared over a guitar signed by Steve Morse and Tom Johnson. Tom's sig bled ever so slightly. Different pens were used. It is on a Fender Katana which is kind of rare to begin with. Not sure if it was a good idea with hind sight. Still cool and I have the memory of playing with them. So it means something to me and resale be darned.
