Carvin/Kiesel koa pro sighting (and great tone)

Postby GuitFiddle » Fri Jan 31, 2020 7:18 am

This solo has one of the best lead tones I've heard (they are up my alley anyway - just as good in the recorded version). And one of my favorite bands ever. Good stuff.

Apparently, he's been using that guitar for at least 5 years by that point, based on this 2013 post mentioning him using a Koa DC727 guitar. Very cool!

Great tone - yeah it is … agreed. 8)
I wonder if those 4-knobbers came with the active elec module? Just curious.
(Looked like it had a maple neck too, at the beginning of the vid, a sneak peek at the back.)

Back then, yes. Unless someone asked for a special 4-knob,mini-switch setup that was all passive as a special, which didn't seem to happen very often.

Note: take the rest of this with a grain of sailt, because I don't remember fully, but I believe it was only after the split that they stopped offering the active modules, since they were made by the Carvin Audio "half" of the company.
