Trouble fitting .135 into VB6

Postby clayyton » Sun Jun 28, 2020 10:23 pm

I'm feeling incredibly foolish right about now for not taking the time to send in my own strings to Kiesel when I ordered my VB6.

I just attempted my first string change on a fretless VB6 and unfortunately the nut width is not compatible with an Elixir .135 (stock they come with dunlop uncoated .130).

Has anyone else had this issue and found any solution? I'm not sure that there is one short of filing the nut width which I don't trust myself to do.

This is likely something that would have to be specified at the time of the build. Hugely disappointing.

Hey, man. Sorry to learn about your trouble. I can't offer any practical solution for what you're trying to do, but can tell you that I sent in a 5-string set with .135 B string for a VB5 build and was ultimately told that .130 was the largest string size the Vader could accommodate due to the design of the Kiesel locking nut system.
